Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 28oz can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat
  • Add the diced onion and cook about 4-5 minutes before adding the garlic and cooking for an additional 1 minute
  • Add the can of crushed tomatoes, water, dried oregano, basil, and pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Bring to a strong simmer, then reduce to low and allow to simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the sauce is thick and creamy

Notes

This sauce will last in the fridge for up to 7 days or you can freeze it for later enjoyment
