A refreshing collection of 26 Healthy Popsicle Recipes you can easily make at home that are full of flavor and less additives than store bought brands.
Are Popsicles Healthy?
Short answer – they can be!
Popsicles are a staple in the summer and can certainly be a healthy treat. However, many store bought varieties contain lots of additives, preservatives and added sugars.
Check out this post – Are Popsicles Healthy? for more info on picking the right store bought popsicle for you.
Making Homemade Popsicles
With just a few ingredients, a blender and some type of popsicle mold (paper cups and ice cube trays work great too), you can make some delicious, healthy popsicles right in your own kitchen.
Don’t get me wrong, I buy store bought popsicles in a pinch because they are convenient, but some reasons why I love making popsicles –
- it’s a great activity to get the kids involved and in the kitchen
- it’s fun coming up with creative flavor combinations
- no need to add extra sugars, corn syrup, etc
- you control the ingredients
- no need for artificial flavors, coloring agents or preservatives
- you can use whatever fruit is in season
