[lead]I’m always on the lookout for a healthy snack that is also convenient that I can grab when that sweet craving hits.[/lead] Most of the time, I can satisfy my sweet tooth with a square of really good dark chocolate. But sometimes you just want a little bit more, you know what I mean?
[blockquote size=”full|half|third|fourth|two-thirds|three-fourths” align=”left|center|right”]Introducing my newest snack obsession – Frozen Almond Butter Banana Bites.[/blockquote]
Bananas are a great healthy choice, but I get so upset when they turn even the slightest bit brown because I really only like them on the green side. Plus, a banana all by itself doesn’t really scream “fulfilling snack” in my opinion. So these bananas are jazzed up with some almond butter ( I just discovered crunchy almond butter and I loooooove it!) and then dipped in a little melted chocolate. Just the right amount of sweetness from the chocolate mixed with saltiness from the almond butter and the coldness of the banana makes this a fantastic healthy snack.
They are so simple to make and you store them in the freezer, so you can make a bunch at one time and just grab a couple when the craving hits.
A little tip when making these snacks, slice the banana relatively thin (but not too thin that they fall apart) because you are going to be sandwiching two slices together. I didn’t realize this when I made my first batch so my “sandwiches” were a little wide and hard to eat at times. One banana makes about 8 pieces (depending on how thin you slice them).
You can use whatever kind of chocolate you want, I used milk chocolate chips the first time because I wanted my daughter to try them (she loved them by the way) but the next time I used dark chocolate chips and both were heavenly!
