This Blueberry Watermelon Salad is the perfect summer side dish. Sweet fruits combine with peppery arugula to create a delicious and fresh salad recipe
We are holding onto summer as long as possible around here.
It’s been relatively easy to do since the last 4 days here in Northern CA have been 110+ degrees!!
We lived by the pool this weekend to keep from overheating. We spent the long weekend swimming & enjoying the end of summer before the kids go back to school tomorrow.
On Saturday, we had friends over for dinner and I threw together this Blueberry Watermelon Salad. It’s easy, fresh and just makes you cherish these last weeks of summer.
The peppery arugula is the perfect choice of greens for this salad because it holds up against the sweet fruit and doesn’t get soggy quickly like some forms of lettuce.
This salad dressing is also the easiest dressing on earth. It’s light but full of flavor. The salad has natural sweetness from the melon and berries, so no additional honey or sweetener was needed in the vinaigrette. Plus bonus points for adding in all those blueberry rockstar health benefits!
I bought a huge watermelon at the store this weekend, so you can bet I’ll be enjoying this salad all week long!
Eventually I guess I will have to put my summer dreams away and embrace the fall. This Sweet and Salty Granola recipe from The Fitchen sounds like the perfect treat for transitioning into the new season.
Until then, Viva la Summer!

Thanks so much Sarah!
I would have never thought to put watermelon in a salad, but this looks fantastic!
I put it in a watermelon panzanella salad once and now add it to salad all the time! It’s the perfect amount of sweetness.
A divine combination! Looks beautiful!
I love fruity summer salads! And any reason to eat more blueberries 🙂 Looks delish!
I would love this- what an awesome patriotic holiday party dish!
