A review of the new Green Giant Fresh Vegetable Bowls

My honest review of the new Green Giant Fresh Vegetable Meal Bowls available now at many local grocery stores.

Disclosure – I received samples of the products mentioned in this post in exchange for my honest review. I wasn’t compensated for my time and all thoughts expressed are completely my own.

Adding All the Veggies

One key principle of the Mediterranean Diet that I can really get behind is the importance of adding more vegetables to your meals.

Filled with heart, cancer, diabetes and other disease fighting nutrients, vegetables should have a front row seat at all our kitchen tables.

Cooking Fresh Isn’t Always Possible

While I’m a huge fan of preparing meals with fresh ingredients whenever possible, I also live in the real world. By that I mean that preparing an entire meal from scratch is just not always possible.

And I’m totally ok with that.

On days/nights like those, I turn to pre-prepped items in the fridge or freezer. That’s why I was excited to try these Green Giant Fresh Vegetable Bowls.

I found mine at my local Safeway, in the refrigerated produced section (where they keep the shredded carrots). The Green Giant Fresh website shows a lot of products and flavors, my local store only carried two though.

Green Giant Fresh Vegetable Bowl Review

Honestly, I enjoyed both flavors that I tried –

  • Rancheros Bowl – Cauliflower, Sweet Potato & Kale with a Green Chile Sauce
  • Burrito Bowl – Cauliflower Crumbles with a Chipotle Black Bean Sauce

I used the Rancheros Bowl as a sort of breakfast hash, that I served with two eggs. The green chile sauce was really flavorful and the sweet potato, kale, cauliflower crumble was really good. The nice thing was that I would describe this bowl as a bit more mild than the second flavor I tried, which is good since I was having it for breakfast.

On a different night, I simply served the Burrito Bowl alongside some pan seared salmon and pasta. I liked the flavors of this bowl a little more than the Rancheros Bowl. It was hearty, spicy and had a great flavor to it. Perfect as a stand alone side dish.

Vegetables Made Easy

I’m a fan of these bowls. I like that they are made with simple, fresh ingredients without additives or preservatives. They are extremely handy, easy to prepare and have a good taste.

I would definitely buy them in the future to have on hand for simple meals and think they would make an excellent packed lunch.
