Entertaining Season
I feel like Easter kicks off the season of “spring gatherings”. Once all the colored eggs have been hunted and peeps eaten, then come the baby showers, mother’s day brunches, and graduation parties.
Personally I love to entertain! Planning the menu is typically one of my favorite parts. This year I’ve decided to expand the typically beverage selection at my gatherings.
Expanding the Brunch Beverage Selections
The beverage choices at gatherings are typically on autopilot for me – a couple bottles of bubbly, assorted juices and coffee.
Nothing wrong with the above assortment, except if you have people that can’t drink (hello mother-to-be at your own baby shower).
Instead of my typical beverage options, I wanted to create a big batch iced tea recipe that was perfect for any gathering. My criteria for this iced tea was that it had to be:
- easy to make (bonus points if it could be made in advance)
- pretty to look at in a pitcher
- not overly sweet, but not punch you in your face with tea flavor either
- low in caffeine so anyone could enjoy it
Chamomile Iced Tea
I chose chamomile tea because it has such a mellow, smooth flavor. It’s a popular tea choice, making it great for big gatherings. The Stash Chamomile Tea is also naturally caffeine free, making it great for all.
To create this large batch of chamomile tea, I used a large stock pot to boil my water. Then I added 10 Stash Chamomile Tea bags and let them steep while the water simmered.
I added some fresh strawberries and a few sprigs of fresh mint to the pot and let them steep until the tea cooled to room temperature. The fruit and mint adds a little extra flavor without overpowering the natural tea flavor.
Strawberry Honey Infusion
Since everyone has a different preference when it comes how sweet they like their iced tea, I knew I wanted to make a flavored syrup to add a touch of sweetness. This Strawberry Honey Infusion is the perfect solution for the “how sweet should tea be” debate.
Simply made by combining honey and water in a small pot, brining to a boil, adding fresh strawberries and letting the syrup infuse for about 10-15 minutes.
What you are left with is a gorgeous strawberry flavored syrup that is naturally sweetened with honey. You can add the infusion right to he pitcher of tea or serve it alongside the tea so guests can add their desired level of sweetness.
Chamomile Iced Tea with Strawberry Honey Infusion
This simple iced tea recipe is great for large gatherings or can even be tailored to make just a single glass. Best of all, it tastes even better when made in advance – a win, win for party prep!
