This Homemade Gingerbread Latte recipe is the perfect way to enjoy a flavorful coffee drink at home, especially during this holiday season.
My Favorite Part of the Day
If you’ve been around this space for awhile, then it’s no surprise to you how much I adore coffee.
Aside from loving the aroma and flavor, making coffee every morning is one of my favorite parts of the day. There is something so soothing about the process of making coffee, pouring a cup and taking a few minutes to enjoy the calm before the daily chaos.
I also love how much coffee is entwined with bringing people together. “Want to grab a cup of coffee”?…yes, please. “Let’s catch up soon over a cup of coffee”. You bet. “Great to see you, come on in, I’ll make us some coffee”.
Celebrating the Season with Coffee
As the holidays draw closer, it’s a great time to connect with friends and family to share memories and celebrate good times over coffee.
I love skipping the crowded coffeehouses and having people over for holiday inspired coffee drinks instead. With the right tools and ingredients, it’s easy to create many of the fun, seasonal coffee drinks in your own home.
An easy way to make those memories is with the Mr. Coffee® At-Home Pour Over coffeemaker from Target.
To make it even more simple, you can purchase the Mr. Coffee® At-Home Pour Over coffee maker by just hovering over the image above!
What is Pour Over Coffee?
Instead of having to spend twenty minutes brewing an entire pot of coffee, the Mr. Coffee® At-Home Pour Over coffee maker makes it simple and uncomplicated.
If you’re not familiar, pour over coffee is the process of making coffee by pouring hot water directly over coffee grounds to produce a flavorful and aromatic single cup of coffee. I love it because it brings out the flavor of coffee beans by using just the right ratio of coffee to water.
Typically, the process of pour over coffee involves weighing the grounds and water on your own to figure out the right ratio. Tell me I’m not the only one that has trouble measuring out the correct ratio of coffee grounds? I either make it way too strong that people are jumping off the walls after one cup, or it’s so light that it looks like slightly tan colored water. Either that or I add way too much water and it spills over the cup, making a huge mess.
This pour over coffee maker takes all the guesswork out of making the perfect cup of coffee. It has an easy to read on-screen guide that walks you step-by-step through the entire coffee making process. Seriously, it tells you when to add more and when to stop. There’s a built in, integrated scale that that automatically calculates the perfect amount of water and coffee. It cannot be any easier.
How to Make a Homemade Gingerbread Latte
This Gingerbread Latte is so easy to make at home plus it’s a delicious coffee treat to brighten up your day.
The process is easy…
Step 1 – Make the gingerbread syrup and allow to cool slightly
Step 2 – Brew 2, 4, or 6 cups of coffee using the Mr. Coffee® At-Home Pour Over coffee maker
- Add filtered water to the electric gooseneck kettle, place back on the base and select the “kettle on/off” button. The water will automatically heat to the perfect coffee brewing temperature. You’ll know it’s done when the easy to read screen says “Kettle Ready” and the machine will beep.
- Next select the “Scale On/Off” button on the machine base and the “Add Pot” indicator will light up. This signals you to either place the included coffee pot carafe or a mug of your own (if only making a single serving) under the tower. Add your filter into the cone dripping and select the “Next” button.
- Select your “Serving Size” by pressing either 2, 4 or 6 cups on the machine’s base. Click “Next” to continue and then it’s time to add the coffee grounds.
- The “Add Grounds” light will indicate it’s time to add the grounds and this feature is probably one of my favorite parts! The built in scale automatically tells you as you add the grounds if you’ve added “Too Little” or “Too Much”. There is also a handy lighted progress bar that shows you how close you are to the perfect amount of coffee grounds after each scoop you add to the filter. You know you are ready when the progress bar is full, a check mark appears and the machine will beep.
- Select “Next” and the “Add Water” indicator light will come on. Slowly pour your heated water over the coffee grounds in a circular motion until the progress car is fully lit, the beep sounds and the “Wait” screen lights up. When the “Add Water” indicator appears on the screen, continue pouring water over the grounds slowly. When the perfect amount of water has been added, the check mark appears on the screen and the machine will beep.
- Allow the water to drip all the way through the filter and enjoy!
Step 3 – Steam your milk for the latte
- I prefer a combination of milk and heavy cream for this latte but you could also use just milk
- I have a milk frother that both steams and froths milk at the same time that I used for this recipe. You can also just heat your milk until it’s warm or use a hand frother
Step 4 – Put together your Gingerbread Latte
- In the bottom of a large mug, add 1 tablespoon on the Gingerbread Syrup
- Add your freshly brewed, pour over coffee
- Top with steamed/frothed milk
- Garnish with freshly grated cinnamon, if desired

- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Putting the Gingerbread Latte Together

Instructions
Gingerbread Syrup

- Once boiling, turn off the heat, add the vanilla and allow to cool (about 10 minutes)

Gingerbread Latte
- Start by brewing your coffee. For this recipe I used the Mr. Coffee® At-Home Pour Over coffee maker
- Next you'll want to steam/heat your milk and cream mixture. Please note that you don't have to use cream if you don't want to, you can just use 1/2 cup of milk instead. I used a milk steamer that also froths the milk. If you don't have a steamer or milk frother, just heat the milk/cream until it's warm
- In a large coffee mug, add 1 tablespoon of Gingerbread Syrup
- Pour freshly brewed coffee into mug and stir lightly
- Add steamed/frothed milk on top and garnish with freshly grated cinnamon if desired

Woo! I’m so happy to see a recipe using full-fat dairy. There’s nothing better in my opinion for a creamy latte :).
