A warm and cozy winter cocktail, this Apple Cider Mulled Wine is made in the crockpot and perfect for holiday get togethers.
Warm and Cozy Drinks
My sister-in-law hosted Thanksgiving this year and when I asked what she wanted me to bring to dinner, one of the requests was “a drink”.
My mind started racing thinking of all the festive drinks that might be fun to bring to dinner. Trust me when I tell you that there are no shortages of cocktail recipes on pinterest.
I knew I wanted something warm but with a little adult libation kick.
Wine meets Apple Cider
That’s why I combined two of my winter favorites for this cocktail – warm apple cider and wine. Plus an extra float of brandy.
Have you ever had mulled wine? I’ve had it a few times and have always enjoyed sipping on a glass. I also think it’s quite “holiday-ish”.
This apple cider version of mulled wine combines apple cider, white wine, oranges, apples, cloves, star anise and cinnamon. After mulling in the crock pot for a few hours, I added a splash of brandy and this delicious drink was born.
It’s warm and the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The best part is, I simply just packed my cider-filled crock pot in the car and plugged in it at my sister-in law’s house. No need to fiddle around with last minute ingredients or leaking glass pitchers.
In addition to this cozy cocktail recipe, I also brought macaroni & cheese and this Kale Chopped Salad to Thanksgiving Dinner. Oh and red wine, always red wine.
