Apple Cider Cocktail Recipe

Besides family, friends, and dessert, the holidays are all about cocktails at my house. It’s so fun to try new and festive drinks at this time of year. Spiked hot chocolate, peppermint flavored martinis, gingerbread eggnog…delicious.

I have no shame in admitting though that I’m not much of a mixologist. The drinks I prefer are simple and that don’t taste very strong. I’m a huge wimp when it comes to drinks that “taste” like alcohol. It’s always been a dream of mine to be sit at a nice bar and order three fingers of scotch and enjoy it. But that is just to me.

I saw this Honeycrisp Apple flavored vodka while strolling thru the adult beverage aisle at the store. I was kid free at the grocery store, so I pretended like I was on vacation and walked down every aisle. Once I spotted it, I knew I had to try it. Honeycrisp apples are my absolutely favorite apple (is that weird to have a favorite apple?) so I figured it was worth a shot.

The vodka itself is really sweet tasting. However, it smells so much like honeycrisp apples that I wish someone would turn it into a perfume. I’d be all over that. If sweetness isn’t your thing, here is an amazing Margarita that is lighter than typical recipes.

To create this Apple Cider Cocktail, I mixed the flavored vodka with a spiced apple cider to make it a festive holiday drink. I purchased my apple cider at Trader Joe’s but I think you can find it everywhere this time of year. Or you could make your own. After tasting it, I added a little club soda to add some bubbles and lighten up the sweetness a bit.

The drink is simple to make. Fill a shaker with ice, add apple flavored vodka and apple cider and shake. Strain into a glass (I used a rocks glass but a martini glass would be fun too!). Top with club soda and freshly grated cinnamon for a little spice.

Ingredients

• 1 part apple flavored vodka
• 1 part apple cider
• club soda
• fresh ground cinnamon optional

Instructions

• Fill cocktail shaker with ice
• Add vodka and apple cider
• Shake
• Strain into chilled cocktail glass
• Top with club soda
• Add cinnamon (if desired)
• I used rocks glasses but a martini glass would be festive. Consider garnishing with a thin slice of apple.
