Broiled Grapefruit with a drizzle of honey gives you a fruity, slightly sweet fruit that is easy enough for breakfast or elegant enough for brunch.
Each Friday I’ll be sharing a new favorite of mine from the past week….it could be a seasonal ingredient that I’m excited to try, a new recipe, or a handy kitchen gadget to help save time. The possibilities are endless, but I think this is a great way to share just a quick new “favorite” of mine from the week with all of you. [blockquote size=”third” align=”center” byline=”Dan McDowell, resident grapefruit hater”]I usually don’t like grapefruit but this broiled one isn’t sour at all.[/blockquote]
This week I’ve been on a grapefruit kick. Fresh grapefruit, grapefruit juice, even grapefruit scented candles…I love it all!
I know everyone isn’t a grapefruit fan (they can be pretty tart), but Broiled Grapefruit is a great way to enjoy the beautiful fruit without dousing it in sugar. The honey adds a little sweetness and broiling it caramelizes the sugars a little bit to remove some of the tartness.
Plus it looks pretty elegant on a plate.
Pro Tip: Make it more of a complete breakfast by topping the grapefruit with a dollop of greek yogurt!
** Please note that grapefruit and/or grapefruit juice can interact with some mediciation. Check with your doctor or pharmacy if you are on any medication to ensure they don’t interact.
