Can you grill fruit?
You betcha!
Grilling fruit is a fun way to bring out the natural sweetness of fruit without having to add a lot of added sugars.
You can grill a variety of fruit from pineapple, stone fruit like peaches & plums, cantaloupe, strawberries and even watermelon.
Grilled fruit makes a great snack, dessert, or even addition to fruit bases salsas and sauces.

How to Grill Pineapple
I love grilling pineapple for dessert because it’s simple but so delicious. The simple steps to prepare the pineapple for the grill are as follows –
- Cut the top and bottom off your pineapple
- I like to leave on the skin because I think it holds up a bit better during grilling but you can remove it so it’s easier to eat
- Cut into rings and remove the core
Then simply place your pineapple rings on your grill. Grill each side until it becomes golden brown with grill marks and lightly caramelized on the surface, then flip each piece over and repeat on the other side. The pineapple should be tender but not overly soft.
Grilled Pineapple with Yogurt, Honey and Mint
This is one of my favorite summer desserts because –
- fruit based desserts are great for a Mediterranean diet
- this recipe is simple and fun, great for dinner guests
- no baking required, the only cooking is a couple minutes on the grill
- greek yogurt adds a creamy tang
- chopped almonds add a delicious crunch and heart healthy fats
- fresh mint round it all off and give a burst of fresh flavor
Grilled Pineapple with Yogurt, Honey and Mint
Ingredients
- 1 pineapple
- 1.5 cups greek yogurt, plain
- 1/2 cup chopped/slivered almonds
- 1 tbsp honey
- 6 mint leaves, chopped
Instructions
- Cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple, remove skin (if desired) and remove core. Slice into 6 rings, about 1/2 an inch thick. If you don't have a tool that removes the core from a whole pineapple, cut into rings first then use a small, round cookie cutter to remove the core from each ring. You could also cut into triangles instead of rings.
- Heat grill and place pineapple on warm grill for about 3 minutes on each side, just until grill marks start to form on surface and color becomes golden brown/caramelized. Flip and grill on other side
- Remove from grill when pineapple is tender but not overly soft
- Allow to cool slightly before topping each pineapple ring with greek yogurt, then topping with slivered/chopped almonds, drizzle with honey and garnish with fresh mint.
