Grilled Stone Fruit served with homemade Ricotta Cheese and lightly drizzled with honey and fresh mint makes a perfect summer dessert.
Growing up our neighbor had a huge plum tree in their backyard. I can remember how excited my sisters and I got every summer when she would knock on our door with a brown paper bag full of ripe, juicy plums.
We’d eat three or four at a time, getting the sticky plum juice all over our faces and hands.
Recipe Inspiration
A few years ago, we went to Greece one summer and I vividly remember a dessert we had one evening at a local restaurant. It was a delicious planter of stone fruits that had been soaked in bourbon and then served with greek yogurt and honey. So simple as far as ingredients, but so full of flavor.
It is the perfect time to replicate the recipe, especially since this month’s The Recipe Redux theme is to showcase our favorite stone fruit recipe.
Making a Family Friendly Recipe
I wanted to omit the bourbon in my recipe so that my kids could enjoy the dish as well. So instead of adding alcohol, I decided to grill the fruits to bring out their natural sweetness and give them a little bit of charred flavor.
If you caught my instagram stories earlier this week, I had originally planned on serving this dish with greek yogurt. However, I found out halfway through making the recipe that I didn’t have any greek yogurt on hand. Instead, I actually made homemade ricotta cheese. I used this Ricotta Cheese recipe from my blog and I have to admit – it is time consuming but so simple to make. The Ricotta Cheese is so creamy and delicious…there is just nothing like it and it’s well worth the time it takes to make it.
Grilled Stone Fruit with Ricotta, Honey and Mint
I used a combination of plums, peaches, apricots and cherries for the stone fruits. I grilled them all and then served on a platter with the fresh ricotta cheese and drizzled with honey and mint from the garden.
Grilled Stone Fruit with Ricotta
Ingredients
- 2 peaches
- 3 plums
- 3 apricots
- 1/2 cup cherries
- Coconut Oil Spray
- 1 cup Ricotta Cheese
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp fresh mint chopped
Instructions
- Slice and remove the pits from the stone fruits.
- You can slice the fruit or leave halved, whatever your preference is. I did a combination of some halved, some sliced into quarters.
- I used a cherry pitter to remove the pits from the cherries and then sliced them in half as well.
- Heat a grill to medium-high heat
- Spray the grill with coconut oil and grill each fruit for about 2 min each side Note the cherries grill very quickly and only take about 1 min each side
- Carefull remove the fruit from the grill and place on a platter
- Add 1 cup ricotta cheese
- Drizzle fruit and ricotta cheese with honey and top with fresh mint
- Serve and enjoy!
- Note - you can choose whatever stone fruit you like (nectarines, peaches, plums, apricots, cherries, etc)
Please note note on the recipe – if you are going to make ricotta cheese, then you’ll need at add an additional 2 hours of prep time to the recipe.
It’s such a simple dish but packed full of delicious, fresh flavors. It would be great for a lunch dish or as a dessert after a meal served outside.

I just want to plant all these trees so we can harvest our own. Is this even possible in ca
I think it would be cheaper to just buy the fruit
Probably cheaper to buy the fruit than plant an orchid to make this once but in the long run you’d probably save money on fruit it you could just pick it from your yard.
What a delicious way to enjoy my fav summer fruit!
