[lead]A healthy super bowl snack that is also delicious…..heck yes![/lead]
Dan (the hubs) is a chicken wing snob connoisseur…he’s eaten chicken wings all over the world and 80% of the time that we go out to eat, he orders wings. He loves them, plain and simple. But he’s very particular about them, they have to be spicy but they can’t just be covered in spicy sauce.
That being said, I usually don’t cook wings because he never likes them. However, since Super Bowl Sunday hits 2 days before the end of our 21 day sugar detox, I needed to make a snack that we could enjoy but still fit within our sugar detox guidelines. Plus we are going to a friends for the big game, so I wanted to find something that other people (i.e. not on a sugar detox) would still enjoy.
Hence, my Habanero Chicken Wings were developed.
These wings are so good, even I like them and I don’t really care much for wings. They are slightly time consuming but I think they are worth the effort. Plus they are gluten free, sugar free, and fit into a paleo/Whole30 type diet. A win-win for everyone.
I use Tessemae’s Southwest Ranch marinade for their flavor, my new go-to marinade these days. Tessemae’s uses only natural ingredients and most of their dressings are gluten free, dairy free, sugar free and vegan. But they taste great! So fresh and flavorful, we use them on salads, fish, and chicken. They can be found in the refrigerated produce section in many grocery stores (I’ve personally seen them at Safeway and Whole Foods).
The biggest review though: Dan, Dan, the chicken wing man. He gave them 2 thumbs up and said he loves them and that we should make them everyday. Slam Dunk!
I serve them with my Greek Yogurt Ranch Dip and they were devoured.
Let me know what you think if you make them!
