A weekly series where we share our family’s actual Mediterranean diet meal plan, along with a few things we’ve been loving this past week. The goal is to simply share meal and recipe ideas.
Our Mediterranean Diet Meal Plan
We share our family’s weekly meal plan simply for meal ideas and recipe inspiration for anyone else looking for suggestions. Please keep in mind that every family and person is different and this is just what works for us.
We’ve saved all our previous weekly meal plans in one convenient location – Weekly Mediterranean Diet Meal Plans.
How We Meal Plan
We go more in depth on how we go about planning meals in this post – Meal Planning Guide but just to quickly summarize –
- Breakfast is usually pretty standard in our house so I don’t include it on our meal plan list
- My kids either bring a bagged lunch or buy hot lunch at school so I only meal plan for my lunch (and my husband if he is working from home that day)
- I include notes on some days to indicate if the meal is something we have to make quickly, on the go, etc. This really helps when it comes to planning meals and buying food to know our schedule in advance.
- On Saturdays we typically eat leftovers and eat out for lunch or dinner. I indicate that on the meal plan each week but just in case you were wondering
What We Ate This Week
This week for lunch we really tried to streamline our grocery budget by eating what we already had on hand. In other words, we kept it simple. Towards the end of each month I try to go thru what we have on hand in our freezer, fridge and pantry and use up those ingredients rather than buying more groceries. It not only helps with saving money but also clearing out our pantry.
Links to What We Ate this Week
Some of the meals we eat during the week don’t have recipes (ie toast with peanut butte and chia seeds). Those meals are more for ideas.
However, many of the dishes we enjoy do have recipes and we share those links below.
- Mustard Chicken from Lavender & Macarons is a FAVORITE at our house. The sauce that goes with this dish is amazing. Funny story, I didn’t think my kids would like this chicken so I made them their own chicken legs and they both devoured this chicken and sauce. They even requested I make it again asap.
- We purchase Sitka Salmon every month, which is a seafood co-op program that delivers Wild Alaskan seafood right to your doorstep.
- This month’s delivery included cod and this recipe for Spanish Style Cod with Tomatoes & Olives
- My husband said this was the best fish he’s ever had. It’s so flavorful.
What We Are Loving this Week
Typically at the end of each weekly meal plan we share either some new products we are loving. Or a new recipe we can’t wait to try, etc.
This week, as we mentioned above, we really tried to keep lunches simple. Twice this past week we had cereal for lunch. I recently purchased this Vanilla Blueberry Almond cereal from purely Elizabeth. It’s very good. Crunchy, just the right amount of sweetness and 6 grams of fiber per serving.
