A fall favorite, this Slow Cooker Applesauce recipe is simple, delicious and inexpensive to make. Freezes well and can be used in many dishes.
This recipe was originally published on The Domestic Dietitian in 2016, but I have updated the pictures and the post.
Transitioning into Fall
Summer is absolutely my favorite season. However, once Labor Day hits I find myself ready to embrace Fall.
I get visions of warm cozy sweaters, colorful leaves, crisp mornings, crackling fires in the fireplace, all things pumpkin, and slow cooker meals on repeat.
Crock Pot Recipes
I rely on my crock pot much more during fall and winter months. It is such a great feeling to toss some ingredients in the slow cooker in the morning, push a few buttons and then lift the lid at dinner to a warm meal.
It’s my goal this fall to create more crock pot recipes. Do you have any favorites?
This Crockpot Green Chile Chicken Enchilada Soup is one of my favorite crock pot meals.
Slow Cooker Applesauce
It’s so simple to make, delicious to eat, and handy to have on hand. I can’t even tell you how good the house smells when it’s cooking!
Making this Slow Cooker Applesauce is like having an entire house full of Bath & Body Works 3 wick candles burning.
No Added Sugar
I love this recipe because it doesn’t use any added sugar. I simply add apples, water and cinnamon to the slow cooker and the end result is a delicious homemade applesauce.
The kids eat it on its own, but it’s great to have on hand because you can add it to many baked goods in place of oil. I’ve also added it to oatmeal and in smoothies. Have you ever had a muffin that was made with applesauce…it’s life changing!
It also freezes well, so you can make a huge batch and save it to enjoy all winter.
Budget Friendly Recipe
This Slow Cooker Applesauce is also very inexpensive to make.
Apple season is approaching and that’s the best time to make this Slow Cooker Applesauce. You can use any type of apple you like, so stock up when they are at their lowest price and slow cook your heart out!

[…] Slow Cooker Applesauce […]
I know I’m late for the party but I just had to comment. Homemade applesauce is a favorite in my house. I am super excited to try it in the slow cooker. So I have a couple of perennial favorites that I use applesauce outside of baking…..
Topping for pancakes… nutritionally superior and tastes like apple pie for breakfast (hint: a bit of vanilla to your pancake batter).
Sweet potato, apple, and pork chop bake… I love to add homemade applesauce on top of the fresh apple slices….. so incredibly good!!!
