Sharing my most recent Friday Favorite – Steeped Coffee. A Santa Cruz based company that provides quality roasted, single serve coffee on the go.

A Single Cup of Coffee

Dan is pretty particular about his coffee…black coffee, light roast, filtered water and whole beans that we grind ourselves with this Burr Grinder.

He hates Kuerigs and is very loyal to our Bunn Coffee Maker (it’s is awesome and makes an entire pot of coffee in 2 minutes).

That being said, sometimes I just want a single cup of coffee. We have the gadget that lets you make a single pour over cup but I feel like this takes forever and I always get coffee grounds everywhere.

Steeped Coffee

I recently heard about Steeped Coffee, a local Santa Cruz company that creates specialty curated, single serve coffee bags. Perfect for brewing a single cup of coffee, anywhere, anytime.

I thought this was so interesting that I reached out and was sent some samples of their single serve coffees.

They come packaged like a tea bag, just a little larger. Every bag is nitro-sealed inside compostable packaging, making every cup eco-friendly.

The sample kit I received contained each of their 5 available roasts – light, medium, dark, french and decaf.

My Steeped Coffee Review

I’ve now tried 3 of the different roasts (light, medium and french) and I have enjoyed each one. They are easy to make and I love that the packaging is fully compostable.

The process for making the coffee could not be more simple – simply pour boiling water into a mug, add your coffee bag and let steep for about 3-5 minutes. Just like making a cup of tea.

The beauty of these coffees is that they are portable, making a great cup of coffee available anywhere. I simply tried mine at home (hello 3pm slump) but I think they would be so useful –

  • keeping on hand in your desk at work
  • taking with you to an overnight stay at a hotel (I hate the coffee they provide in hotel rooms)
  • stashing in your briefcase for those work meetings that always serve rather burnt tasting coffee
  • just keeping on hand when you run out of beans and need a cup to survive!

They have a free trial offer on their website, as well as subscription services too. If you are a coffee fan and looking for a portable, single serve coffee option, this is a great fit.
