A new series, featuring my family’s meal plan for the week. Including recipe links and meal prep tips.
I often get asked by friends and on the blog what my family typically eats for our meals during the week. I love getting meal ideas from other people and online, so I thought it would be fun to share our weekly menu in return.
Along with our weekly menu, I’ve included the links to recipes for certain dishes that I found online that I want to try or that I’ve made before and love, various notes pertaining to our schedule on certain days, and notes if the kids are having something else that what is planned.
SUNDAY
- Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs
- Lunch: Avocado Toast with Tomato (I’m obsessed!)
- Dinner: Smokey Chicken with Avocado Sauce, Garlic Butter Zucchini Noodles
- Notes: Dan took the kids to lunch so it was just me. The kids will have chicken without the avocado sauce and regular noodles for dinner with us.
MONDAY
- Breakfast: Blueberry Protein Smoothie
- Lunch: Raw Broccoli Chop Salad
- Dinner: Chicken & Spinach Meatballs, Cold Cucumber Noodle Salad
- Notes: It’s just me and the kids today, Dan is traveling. Sophie has school in the morning, so it’s usually hectic without a lot of time to sit down and eat a slow breakfast, smoothies work perfectly!
TUESDAY
- Breakfast: Herb & Tomato Scrambled Eggs
- Lunch: Leftover Broccoli Chop Salad
- Dinner: Grilled Salmon with Grapefruit Avocado Salad
- Notes: It’s just me and the kids today, Dan is still traveling. Both kids have swim practice and when we get home it’s time for dinner, so it has to be quick. I’m making them leftover chicken meatballs, served on slider buns. Then I’ll eat after they go to bed.
WEDNESDAY
- Breakfast: Protein Smoothie
- Lunch: Leftover Salmon and Avocado Salad
- Dinner: Grilled Pork, Tomato & Herb Quinoa Salad
- Notes: Still just me and the kids. Sophie has school again in the morning, so it’s a smoothie for me. Kids will have broccoli and tomato pasta salad in place of quinoa salad for dinner.
THURSDAY
- Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs
- Lunch: Leftover Tomato & Herb Quinoa Salad
- Dinner: Thai Curry Chicken Salad
- Notes: Dan is finally home, yay! Kids will have gnocchi with vegetables for dinner and then Dan & I will eat after they go to bed.
FRIDAY
- Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs
- Lunch: Leftovers
- Dinner: Baked Chicken with Curried Onion Lentils (recipe coming to the blog soon)
- Notes: Use up any leftovers for lunch. Kids will have same dinner but with mashed potatoes instead of lentils.
SATURDAY
We tend to eat out on Saturdays or pick something up while we are out and about. I don’t menu plan for this day. If we are home, we just eat whatever is leftover from the week.
Hope you enjoy the new series! Let me know if you try any of the above recipes!
I like it.
Thanks Dan!
as an RD2Be, I love finding other RDs out there! Love this sample meal plan, because as a grad student, I’m still trying to figure out how to perfect the whole meal prep thing 🙂

Thanks so much Sarah Grace, glad you like it.
I also love seeing other people’s menus, it’s great for ideas.
Congrats on being on the RD track, I have honestly never regretted it!

Ooh – now there’s at least two recipes I want to make – the chicken with the avocado and zoodles and the salmon grapefruit salad. I always get inspiration from other’s weekly meal plans!
We just had the chicken with avocado sauce last night and it was soooo good!
I love seeing menu plans! It helps me try new things and be a bit more creative (because sometimes I get into a rut with preparing the same foods all the time). The avocado and grapefruit salad sounds good!
Thanks Melanie, I figured since I love seeing others menu plans that others would enjoy it too!
Such a great resource!! I also create a weekly meal plan for my husband and I 🙂
I used to just try and wing it at the store but ended up buying way too much and never actually had anything to really put together complete meals.
