A weekly series where we share our family’s actual Mediterranean diet meal plan, along with a few things we’ve been loving this past week. The goal is to simply share meal and recipe ideas.
Our Mediterranean Diet Meal Plans
We share our family’s weekly meal plan simply for meal ideas and recipe inspiration for anyone else looking for suggestions. Please keep in mind that every family and person is different and this is just what works for us.
We’ve saved all our previous weekly meal plans in one convenient location – Weekly Mediterranean Diet Meal Plans.
How We Meal Plan
We go more in depth on how we go about planning meals in this post – Meal Planning Guide but just to quickly summarize –
- Breakfast is usually pretty standard in our house so I don’t include it on our meal plan list
- My kids either bring a bagged lunch or buy hot lunch at school so I only meal plan for my lunch (and my husband if he is working from home that day)
- I include notes on some days to indicate if the meal is something we have to make quickly, on the go, etc. This really helps when it comes to planning meals and buying food to know our schedule in advance.
- On Saturdays we typically eat leftovers and eat out for lunch or dinner. I indicate that on the meal plan each week but just in case you were wondering
This Week’s Mediterranean Diet Inspired Meal Plan
This week is a bit different. I was lucky enough to spend a few days in Hawaii with a few girlfriends. It was a great break and very relaxing. I was going to skip this week’s Weekly Meal Plan but then decided it would be fun to show what I ate while in Maui.
Maui has amazing food! I’ve never had such amazing tasting fish everywhere we went. Further down below this post, I link the restaurants where we ate for anyone interested.
Links to What We Ate
Below are link to either recipes (if applicable) or links to the restaurants I ate at while in Maui. Highly recommend all that are linked!
Restaurants I Loved in Maui
- Hula Grill – I had a special on the menu this night that was a combination of Seared Ahi Tuna and Mahi Mahi, served over Coconut Jasmine Rice
- Plantation House – The table shared the Balsamic Brussels Sprouts and I had the Day Boat Scallops with Lobster Risotto and Tomato Marmalade
- Star Noodle – my friends and I shared the Garlic Noodles, Pad Thai, Steamed Pork Buns, and Nuoc Cham Chicken
- Mala Ocean Front Tavern – We went for brunch and I had an amazing Crab Frittata that had maui onions, potato hash, creme fraiche and tobiko
- Leilani’s – we ordered a bunch of dishes and shared – The Macadamia Nut Hummus with Radishes, Burger, and Guava Sriracha Wings
- The Gazebo (best breakfast on the Island) – the table shared the Fried Rice and Macadamia Nut Pancakes with Bananas
Links to Recipes
We didn’t really have any “recipes” we followed this week. I was on vacation Friday thru Tuesday and the other days were just “pull whatever you can out of the fridge and try to create a meal”.
I will say we did make some great DIY Charcuterie Boards while on vacation for easy lunches. Also made this Refreshing Watermelon Salad multiple times this past week.
