Mediterranean Diet Brunch Idea
We’ve shared in the past our love of brunch and our ongoing goal of trying to work the Mediterranean diet into all aspects of our lives.
In fact, we shared these 26 Mediterranean Diet Brunch Ideas , showing some of our favorite brunch related recipes.
Well now we’ve got a new Mediterranean diet Brunch or breakfast idea – a Bagel Brunch Platter!
How to Make a Bagel Brunch Platter
This is such an easy idea if you are having people over for brunch or serving a large group for breakfast. Especially since it is all served cold, so there isn’t anything to really “cook”.
The ingredients and toppings can be customized to fit your likes and preferences. Plus there are so many options when it comes to topping ideas.
Start with Bagels
We love having an assortment of flavors. Our tip – if you have an everything or onion bagel, try to keep them separate from the other flavors. The strong smell or seeds from the everything bagel tend to rub off on the others.
If you have a lot of people coming or you think most of the bagels will be eaten that day, we recommend pre-slicing them. This avoids having a long line at the bagel platter.
Creams Cheese and Spreads
For this bagel board platter, we chose a whipped herb cream cheese. We find the whipped style cream cheese spreads much better than the block form.
Some other options for spreads in addition to or in place of cream cheese include –
- Hummus
- Different flavors of cream cheese
- Ricotta
- Plant Based/Dairy Free Cream Cheese (Kite Hill is one of our favorites)
- Dijon Mustard
- Greek Yogurt
Smoked Salmon and Protein Toppings
Our go to protein topping is typically smoked salmon. There are so many good quality ones on the market these days. Most grocery stores have them near the fish counter.
Some other topping ideas include –
- Tuna
- Hardboiled Egg
- Smoked herring
- Anchovies (my husband’s favorite!)
- Salmon Mousse
Veggie Options
The vegetable topping possibilities are endless. Some easy favorites include –
- Crisp lettuce
- Thinly sliced cucumber
- Tomato (we know it’s a fruit but just roll with it)
- Bell pepper rings
- Roasted Peppers
- Microgreens
- Arugula
- Sprouts
- Roasted Eggplant
Flavor Adding Toppings
Some other things we love including on our Bagel Brunch Platter include flavor enhancers like fresh ground pepper, fresh dill, lemon slices for drizzling, capers, hot sauce and extra virgin olive oil.

- 4 springs Fresh Dill
- 2 tbsp Capers
