In just 7 minutes, you can create Instant Pot Hardboiled Eggs that are perfectly cooked and easy to peel.
How do you cook hardboiled eggs?
I have always made hardboiled eggs on the stove in a pot of boiling water. The only problem was that they didn’t always turn out the same in the middle. Sometimes they were great, sometimes they were a little under-done and sometimes they were really over cooked.
And don’t even get me started on the peeling of the eggs. I can’t stand when a shell is so difficult to peel and you end up with an egg that has more craters than the moon.
Using the Instant Pot
As I’ve been staying home and cooking more, I have grown quite fond of my Instant Pot. I’ve used it lately to make –
- soups
- chicken
- baked potatoes
- sweet potatoes
- oatmeal
- rice
Just recently I discovered that you can make perfectly cooked hardboiled eggs in the Instant Pot! Even better news – they peel so easily!
Instant Pot Hardboiled Eggs
The steps for the instant pot hardboiled eggs are simple but here are a few tips –
- Add 1 cup of water and the metal basket to your instant pot first
- Carefully place the eggs on top, being careful not to crack them
- Set the pressure to high, turn off the “keep warm” button
- Cook for 7 minutes for a set yolk, if you prefer a runnier yolk reduce by 1-2 minutes
- The cook time is 7 minutes, but it will take about 10 minutes for your instant pot to come up to pressure
- Once they are done cooking, manually release the pressure and place the eggs in an ice bath for 1 minute
- Peel and eat immediately or place in fridge for up to 7 days
