A review of Julie Andrews’ new Brain Health Cookbook, including trying out these delectable Mini Mixed Berry Bread Puddings.

The Brain Health Cookbook by Julie Andrews

These Mini Mixed Berry Bread Puddings are just one of the amazing recipes that I’ve made from Julie Andrew’s (of The Gourmet RD) new book “The Brain Health Cookbook: MIND Diet Recipes to Prevent Disease and Enhance Cognitive Power“.

The Brain Health Cookbook

I have been a fan of Julie’s for a long time and love both her MIND Diet Plan & Cookbook and The Simple Soups Cookbook.

So naturally it’s no surprised that I jumped at the chance to review Julie’s new book, which is now available for pre-order here – http://bit.ly/thebrainhealthcookbook and officially launches on March 10th and let me tell you…it is so good!

Science, Nutrition and Delicious Recipes

Inside her new “The Brian Health Cookbook”, Julie does such an amazing job explaining the science and the connection between cognition, brain health and nutrition. The information is easy to understand and fascinating to read.

I also love that Julie is a Chef and a Registered Dietitian but that she is realistic and down to earth, both as a person and as a chef. The delicious recipes in her book features everyday ingredients and simple cooking techniques that create flavorful, family friendly meals.

Every recipe is designed to feature ingredients that preserve brain health and prevent cognitive decline. Two hands up for that!

I have dog-eared about half of the recipes in the book so far, they all sound and look so delicious.

Julie’s beautiful Mini Mixed Berry Bread Puddings

After reading the entire book cover to cover, I knew I wanted to try making her Mini Mixed Berry Bread Puddings first. The recipe is simple and features delicious ingredients like berries, nuts, and whole grains. Extra bonus was that I already had all the ingredients on hand.

I modified her recipe in just two tiny ways. First, I used frozen strawberries (instead of mixed berries, simply because that was all I had on hand). Secondly I didn’t have any maple syrup to drizzle over the top so I simply left it out. They still turned out amazing!

Mine aren’t as stunning as Julie’s but they were insanely delicious!

I will definitely be putting this book to good use, including making these mini bread puddings again.
