An Easy Appetizer

Whipped Feta Cheese Dip3

Holiday and entertaining season is in full swing!

This means people need a quick and simple appetizer that tastes great but doesn’t require a lot of time or baking to prepare.

If you love dip based appetizers that are delicious when spread on a cracker or as a dip for raw veggies then you are gong to love what’s coming up.

Whipped Feta Cheese Dip

Whipped Feta Cheese Dip - mediterranean diet appetizer that is so simple to make and delicious to eat on pita bread, crackers, or with vegetables

I love feta cheese – we eat it all the time in greek salads or with roasted vegetables. However, I always found the flavor a little too strong to serve alone as a sort of spread.

Then I discovered whipped feta and I fell in love with this dip! It’s a mixture of feta cheese, a little bit of cream cheese, greek seasoning, garlic, lemon and olive oil. What’s not to love right?

Super easy but so delicious! I served this to my family with a big Mediterranean inspired veggie platter and it was a huge hit. It was great on toasted pita bread, sliced cucumbers, with roasted red peppers and even on top of crackers with grapes and walnuts.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz feta cheese allow to come to room temperature
  • 2 oz cream cheese allow to soften at room temperature
  • 1 tsp greek seasoning
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 lemon zested and juiced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional Garnish - fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients (except parsley for garnish) in a food processor and pulse until combined and creamy

  2. Transfer to serving bowls and top with chopped fresh parsley if desired

Recipe Notes

I used whipped cream cheese but you could also use regular cream cheese. Just be sure to allow the feta and cream cheese to come to room temperature so it will mix well.

Greek Seasoning - there are a lot of greek seasoning blends on the market, but if you are looking to make one, this Greek Seasoning Blend recipe is great! It's a combination of garlic, onion, parsley, marjoram, basil, oregano, thyme and pepper.
