Year after year, the Mediterranean diet is touted as the healthiest way to live. Not only because of it’s focus on plant based foods (fruits, veggies, olive oil, nuts, seeds, legumes) but because the people that follow a mediterranean based diet live longer and have reduced instances of chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, dementia and certain types of cancer.
So what makes the Mediterranean diet so great?

As you can see, the emphasis is put on filling your meals with fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, beans, lentils and whole grains. Then filling in less often with fish and seafood, dairy, poultry, cheese and choosing meats and sweets less often.
We also love that as as a lifestyle, it includes being physically active, social, drinking water, sleep and enjoying meals with others.
