Celebrating the 4th of July
I have always loved the Fourth of July. It’s become one of my favorite holidays. I don’t know if it’s because of the bbq’s, fireworks, or seeing all the patriotism. Although the food is a strong contender.
There’s plenty of fresh salads, summer fruit, and something grilled at most parties. Plus a red, white and blue themed dessert is always fun.
Mediterranean Inspired 4th of July Food Ideas
Since really committing to living a Mediterranean Lifestyle, even holiday celebrations have changed to reflect this lifestyle.
The principles that I try to follow for mediterranean diet inspired recipes are typically –
- use the freshest ingredients possible
- fruits and vegetables should be the star of the dishes
- flavor with olive oil, fresh herbs and spices
- limit added sugars and unhealthy sources of fat
- choose recipes that allow you to enjoy the time with your company rather than spend a lot of time in the kitchen
In a way, incorporating a more Mediterranean diet into celebrations have opened my eyes to how much I enjoy this way of life and sharing that with others.
I’m sharing some of my favorite Mediterranean Inspired 4th of July food ideas and recipes.
